Noli Me Tangere: Summary and Analysis of Chapter 47 (The Two Señoras)

Summary:
While walking with her husband, Doña Victorina flashes her eccentric clothes about town. The de Espadañas pass by the house of the alferez.  Doña Consolacion, the alferez's wife, mocks Victorina, and this ends in a heated argument.  To defend her honor, Victorina prods Linares to challenge the alferez to a duel.

Points of Note:
When it comes to character development, this chapter is at the top of the list.  Doña Victorina, Doña Consolacion, Don Tiburcio de Espadaña, and Captain Tiago are undying caricatures created by Rizal that have made an eternal mark in Philippine literature.  The character featured in this chapter is Doña Victorina.

The quarrel between the two women (Victorina and Consolacion) is described in classic satire.
